Steve moved to Troy in 1978 – attracted by the diverse, vibrant community and exemplary schools. Since then, Steve has been an integral part of the Troy community.
Steve’s children have all graduated from Troy Schools, two from Athens High School and two from Troy High School.
For 41 years, Steve served the community of Troy as a Troy School District teacher of many different courses, including vocational auto mechanics, photography, computer networks and repair, video game design, government, and economics. He was also a co-op coordinator – providing a liaison between the school district and the business community. Steve served the Troy School District on the Continuous Improvement Steering Committee and was the Continuous Improvement Chair for Athens High School. He was an active member and committee chair of the Troy Education Association and was the Chair of the South Oakland District Association. Thousands of people in Troy even learned to drive with Steve during his many summers teaching driver education at Athens! Steve retired from teaching in June of 2016.
Currently, Steve serves the City of Troy as a member of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. In 2014, Steve served as a Troy City Council Member. He has also served as a City Planning Commissioner, an officer for the Raintree Homeowners Association and as president for the Telford Ridge Homeowners Association. Steve is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents of our city.
Steve has been a small business owner in Troy for more than 30 years. He started out with an automotive repair facility, and soon moved on to become a real estate agent and then a broker owner. He has been a franchisor and a franchisee with Red Carpet Keim Real Estate. Steve has helped build the Troy community, helping people make their homes here for decades.
In his spare time, Steve works with cars. His latest project has been to convert his 1982 Delorean to an electric vehicle. He rides a Gold Wing whenever possible and is a multi-engine instrument-rated commercial pilot. Steve also enjoys photography – family portraits, ballet performances, the Troy High marching band, and vacation scenery have all been favorite subjects. More than anything, Steve loves to spend time with family.
